I've Been Romper'd

Wool Blazer: vintage, Romper: ASOS, Boots: Evans, Earrings: Dorothy Perkins (gifted), Sheer Tights: CVS

I wished I had a bigger ass. Oh well.

The sis, Zi.

Ring: vendor, Necklace: Forever 21, Purse: Mulberry for Target

During the Electro Pop segment

Dancing to The Jackson 5

Taboo brings out the fire in people's eyes, I swear. Friendships can be torn apart because of this game. I've seen it with my own eyes. (Don't worry, it's quickly amended after the game is done.)

I want this checkerboard in my life.

Nice use of mixing with the tribal shirt and leopard print shoes.

(l) The silk plaid blouse is so pretty.
(r) I loved how she paired this amazing tribal jumpsuit with the turtleneck.

Event: 2nd NYAB Mixer and Bridal Shower
Where: Laurel, MD and Baltimore, MD
Summary: Sunday was spent going to two events. First, was the NYAB mixer. What's NYAB?, you ask. Wellst, NYAB stands for Nwannedinamba Youth Adult Branch. It was created back in '07 with the intention to unify the younger generation in the Igbo community within the DC area and hopefully extending it nationally. (Sidenote: Igbo is one of the main ethnic groups in Nigeria and it's also the name of our language). The organization teaches us about our culture a bit more and does a lot of charity work within the area. The mixer potluck style, so a lot of folks brought in delicious cooked dishes that were oh so yummy in my tummy.  After introductions and saying one interesting fact about ourselves (my interesting fact was having THIS blog...eek!), it was off to the games. There was Dance, Dance Revolution, Taboo, Gestures, etc. I decided to try out Dance, Dance. That was hella fun...and a bit tiring. And guess who won dancing to "Don't Want You Back" by The Jackson 5? Yours truly. *takes a bow* Later on, the sis and I headed to Baltimore for a friend's bridal shower. We were tardy for the party but thank goodness people were still there. And the celebrant was beyond grateful that we made it.

Let's talk bout my 'fit for a bit (ooh, that rhymed). I am so into the romper/shorts with tights look. I'm a believer that you can rock spring/summer dresses in the fall/winter (or in this case, colder weather in the Spring because Mother Nature is bipolar) as long as it's paired with tights.

p.s. I recently contributed to Madison Plus. Whenever you get the chance, check it out here

Friday Event: Closet Runway

Official Flier

www.toucanboutique.com

Stella & Dot was recently featured in April 2011 In Style magazine.
www.stelladot.com

I asked Afro Style if I can put a picture of her on my blog. At first she declined. Then she was like, 'put the one of me making a crazy face'. And here we are.

Some of the art displayed at the venue.

Event: Closet Runway (seen here)
Where: Eastern Market, North Hall
Summary: Afro Style and I had a good time at the Closet Runway event. Closet Runway basically showcases local boutiques, retail stores and designers. They bring it all together by having a runway show. Part of the proceeds from that night are going to be donated to charities based in the DC area community. Fashion for a cause. Throughout the show, the audience was given fashion advice on how to create Spring outfits. There was a special performance by a local singer (and me being the slight dummy, I totally forgot to get her name). But she was great. Trust me on this...she was. My favorite segment of the show was the style makeovers. They already pre-selected their candidates, so we didn't really see their 'before'. I mean, we sort of did because their 'before' pictures were in the program booklet. But, of course, we saw the 'after'. I think I enjoyed how ecstatic they were to strut down the runway in their new wardrobe. In fact, one lady wanted a new wardrobe after she lost 50 pounds. She told us that during the shopping she was amazed at how she can finally fit in smaller sizes. She kept screaming in the fitting room. Well, when it was her turn to show us her new outfit, she definitely showed us. I wished I recorded it. Very adorable. Anywho, we couldn't stay till the end because we had somewhere else to be that night. But all in all, I enjoyed myself. It is definitely an event that I will go to again.

Till next time...

Rockin' It Out All Day

blazer/skirt: vintage, clutch: F21, blouse: Old Navy, bracelet: H&M, shoes: Avenue, earrings: Dorothy Perkins (gifted)

Event: BFF's Birthday Dinner Party
Summary: So, after the fun that was the wax museum and just spending the day in DC, I had to immediately rush home and change for a dinner party. Not wanting to part with my cream blazer, I just created an outfit around it. Which was a win in my book, because it got quite nippy at night. Like, jacket/coat nippy. But it's freakin' spring time! I refuse to wear a jacket/coat this season despite the cooler weather. (We'll see how long that lasts). So, blazers will just have to do.

I just want to take this time out to say thank you for all the comments (so far, positive...woop, woop!) and emails I receive on a daily basis because of this blog. Even to the lurkers! I appreciate everything! I truly love blogging. And I will try my best to be consistent on this blog.

Take care and until next time...

Saturday (Oooh! Oooh!)

"Something wrong. I hold my head. MJ gone. Our n**** dead!"

I stay smiling. Oh well.

Apparently, this is Madonna. Okay.

Had to whip out the shades.

Still smiling

(To me, this is (l-r) Beyonce's & J. Lo's sister, Will Smith's uncle and Oprah Winfrey circa...I mean, what year did she ever look like this?)

Cee was trying to aim for the lower region. Still hasn't forgiven Tiger.

I didn't do it!

Thataway!

They decided to adopt me. How sweet of 'em. *tear*
Wool Blazer: vintage, Blouse: Ross, Jeans: F21, Shoes: Avenue
You see that cup behind this one. The one with the fruit toppings? Yeah, not mine.

Clearly, Obama has a second job as a live mannequin for American Apparel. Clearly.

Summary: I have been yearning...pleading...feening...to go to Madame Tussands ever since I found out there was one here in DC. I'm such a geek but I find wax figurines so interesting. And I also enjoy taking pictures with them, too. So after weeks and weeks of my cries, my friends, Cee & Jessica, finally decided that this past Saturday will be the day that we can finally go. Woop, woop. It was so much fun. I mean, when you have the right group of friends with you, any situation will be fun. But it was fun! Some pictures I can't put up because it's so wrong on so many levels. I will say though, some celebrities need to ask for a refund. I mean, I don't know if they get paid to get their own wax replica but still, ask for that refund back. Anywho, afterwards, we hit up FroZen Yo where I ate a deliciously non-healthy concoction of fat-free Vanilla and fat-free Cheesecake yogurt, topped off with whip cream and plain M&Ms. nom nom nom.

Until next time...

And It Was All Yellow

(L-R) You're Such A Kabuki Queen, Do You Lilac It?, Need Sunglasses?

I added a new color to my spring nail polish rotation: Need Sunglasses? I was inspired by Hanh from Life in Travel. She's been rockin' the hell outta her yellow nail polish. Looking fierce and everything. I said to myself, 'Hey, I can do that, too!' Especially since it's my second favorite color (the first being purple...duh). So, I set out on a mission to look for one. Honestly, it wasn't really a "mission" because I knew I wanted an OPI since I'm such a stan fan. And luckily for me, my local beauty supply store sells OPI. I walked in and immediately found Need Sunglasses? Here is the result:

I needed to apply 3 (three) coats to truly get the effect. Over the weekend, my mom glanced at my fingers and was like, "Hmmm, people won't even look at you when you are talking. They will just be looking at your fingers like you are crazy!"

Mission accomplished, no?

Have a great & blessed week...while looking fashionable! Until next time...

Greenin' Out

Blazer: vintage, Blouse: Ross, Jeans: Forever 21

Event: St. Patrick's Day
Summary: First off, I hope everyone enjoyed the Day. My friends and I decided to celebrate with food, drinks and bowling. I'm not a good bowler but I love to bowl. It's just fun. And I have this weird way of releasing the ball. It's hilarious. It's like between a thrust and a throw. I guess cause of that form, it's a hit or miss with me. I get a strike. I get a gutterball. Pretty much this night, it was 90% gutterball. But I had fun doing it. Oh and my bad about the quality of these pictures. My camera decided that it no longer works. It just upped and croaked on me. So for the mean time, my camera phone will just have to do. I really wanted to document this night cause it's been a while since all of us hung out together. As I like to say, "na by force by force".

*le sigh*

(If this is not a sign to buy a new camera, I don't know what is.)

p.s. I really wanted to drink green beer but the venue did not have any. Booo!

Until next time...

Get Ready For Closet Runway

http://www.closetrunway.com/

Afro Style recently brought to my attention of this DC Fashion Benefit. She will be there. I will definitely be there. And I know JP will be there, as well. If you live in the DC area or just happen to be in the city that night, you should definitely try to make it.

For more information, visit Closet Runway official website. Also, for a breakdown of the event, visit The Capitol Fashionista.

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things...At the Moment

1. Vintage Bag (seen here)

2. Forever 21 necklace (seen here)

3. Michael Kors watch (seen here Oh please, this watch is a staple on this blog!): I bought this watch for myself as a birthday gift back in Oct. '09. I can say that it has been on rotation ever since.

4. H&M leopard scarf: This has yet to make an appearance on this blog. But best believe I have worn this sucker out since I got it early last year.

5. MAC Up The Amp: I know my sister is beyond grateful I finally got myself this lipstick seeing as I always used to take her own. I mean, that's what sisters are for, right? To share. Duh. Obviously, she didn't get the memo. Anywho, I can confidently say this lipstick was made for me. Really, MAC made this lipstick for me. Not for you but for me.

5. Dorothy Perkins earrings (gifted): My friend recently got this for me from her trip to Scotland.

6. Kanye West, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" (My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy): This album came out in November, right? Okay, I have played it non-stop ever since. In my car, at work, on my computer, on my iPod. ALL THE TIME. My favorite song from the album is "Power". It gets me very, very hyped.

Been meaning to put this up last week but haven't had the time to do so...until now. Just a short post of what I'm obsessed with at the moment. Hopefully, it changes a bit in a few months. I doubt it, though.

On to the next one...

Making It Work

Shirt: Old Navy, Dress: ASOS, Fashion Tights: Avenue, Shoes: Evans, Bag: Gucci

Necklace: Aldo, Ring: F21, Watch: Michael Kors

Event: Church Service & Baby Christening
Summary: I really wanted to take pictures outside but the weather did not want me to be great today. Rain, rain, rain. Anywho, I got this dress late last year and this is my first time wearing it. Why? Because it's a sleeveless dress and me don't show my arms. I'm just not comfortable exposing my arms. *shrugs* Granted, I could've worn it with a blazer but I felt that would have taken away from the beauty of the dress. So...what to do, what to do? Finally, I decided to wear a shirt under the dress. Look ma, no exposed arms!

Wishing everyone a blessed, non-stressful week...while looking fantastic!

Until next time...

When You Wish Upon A Star

Louis Vuitton Cuir Art Deco Trapeze in Vieux Rose (left) and Plum (right)

It's been a while since I've had a crush on a bag. Yearned for it. Well, I have found my new crush. Just gorgeous, color block chain strap purses.

And this ends my Spring/Summer wishlist (and I do mean WISH cause...*chuckles*...boy, that purse comes with a hefty price tag).

The end.

*takes a bow*
(Okay, not really.)

I may need a new laptop, too.

I Love This Game!

The 'zoom' button in full effect.

Washington Wizards' mascot, Gee Wiz

Blazer: vintage, Tank Top: Old Navy, Watch: Michael Kors, Brooch: Mom's, Stretch Bracelet: Avenue, Ring: vendor, Necklace: F21

Event: Dallas Mavericks vs. Washington Wizards (NBA game)
Where: Verizon Center
Summary: The sis and I went to see the Wizards play. The first game I've watched live this season. Like I said before, I gotta step my game up. I can't be a stan fan of the NBA and only have gone to ONE home game this season. That's not right. Anywho, we were in a suite - which was lovely - but we really wanted to be near the court. I don't know...I just like to be where the action is. Right in front of my face. Not in some view where I gotta whip out my camera and press the 'zoom' button multiple times. It was a good game even though the Wizards lost. Afterwards, we walked to a nearby Chinese restaurant to eat. The owner's mother was so fascinated with my lizard ring. She spoke limited English but I understood her well enough. She constantly kept finding ways to come to our table just so she can 'oooh' and 'aaah' at my ring. It was adorable.

Take care!
