NYFW SS 2019

Here's my recap of NYFW SS 2019.

Yes, I'm mad late.

*long post alert

"SS" stands for spring and summer. The thing with fashion week is this - it showcases the trends that'll be popular for the upcoming season. Like so: September fashion week deals with spring and summer of the following year and February fashion week deals with the upcoming fall and winter trends of that year. Easy enough, right?

My fashion week experience was a really good one. I got to experience my first runway fashion show (thanks, Dani, for the invite) and attended a bunch of events including theCURVYcon. The only downside was not being able to make Refinery29's insanely popular R29 Rooms. I paid for my tickets and everything! Alas, with the art exhibit being in Brooklyn, there was no way to get there and come back in time to attend the other fashion events, which all happened to be in Manhattan. Because as we all know, NYC traffic is a bitch. Ah well. Maybe next year. Also, R29 Rooms should really consider coming to DC (Update: It did come to DC!).

Let's rundown the weekend, shall we?

Day 1

  • Nolcha Shows Accessories Preview Event at the Bryant Park Hotel. My favorite brands were All Black Footwear and Aranyani Lifestyle
  • Style Dimension with Samsung 837 featuring a panel discussion with the Kate Spade NY Spring 2019 Runway Show Debut team
  • Flying Solo runway. For a more in-depth recap, read Dani's post here.
  • Christian Siriano The Curated NYC. We lucked out that our hotel, Warwick Hotel, was a few doors down from Christian's boutique.
  • Maree Pour Toi Preview Event hosted by Sarah of Curvily Fashion.

Day 2
  • theCURVYcon. I only attended the Social portion of the conference. Two floors filled with plus size items to shop from popular brands and designers. Ran into so many bloggers, some whom I've known for years but finally met in person. Good times.
  • Sidenote: Full look of my outfit here.

While figuring out which booth to hit up next, I saw this lady wearing a very cute matching skirt set. So I complimented her.
Turns out her name is Grisel and she's the CEO/Founder of Rebdolls. Also, the outfit I complimented is from her own line.

I was so excited to meet Ushshi. Her style and creativity is on point.

Day 3

  • Girls with Curves x Lane Bryant preview event
  • Essence Street Style Festival. We only stayed for an hour because standing in the rain for almost an hour to get into the venue just deflated our energy. Plus it was a madhouse inside. However, we made the most out of the situation.

And there you have it! I may be interested in attending NYFW A/W 2019. We shall see.
