SAG Awards '19

Danai Gurira in Ralph & Russo
The 2019 SAG Awards came in quick and easy on Sunday night. Even with Megan Mullally as the host, the show finished exactly at 10pm. On the dot. Oscars should try to take notes.

There were a lot of cute moments in the show. Geoffrey Owens, Elvin from The Cosby Show, sharing the down moments of being an actor during the opening segments and upon finishing, being met with a raucous applause. I was clapping from home, as well. If you don't know the story: Geoffrey took a job at Trader Joe's to offset unemployment. A lady recognized him by proceeding to record Geoffrey working and sharing it on the internet - with the intent to mock. But of course, doing so backfired. The internet shamed her, and the internet praised Geoffry for just doing what he needed to do to pay his bills. It's been a gradual upswing for his career ever since.

Another great moment was Alan Alda accepting his Lifetime Achievement Award. Growing up, I've caught M*A*S*H on TV here and there but it never held my attention. He's popped up in a few movies I've watched. But what really sold me on Alan was during his stint on The West Wing. He was amazing. Anywho, he gave a great speech telling his fellow actors to continue to have fun and allow the audience to enjoy their craft during these difficult times.

I'll be doing the red carpet fashion recap a bit differently. Instead of sharing my favorite (and no so favorite) looks, I'll be shining a spotlight on two casts, both of which won awards in their respective categories: Black Panther (Best Motion Picture) and This is Us (Drama Series; second straight win).

Michael B. Jordan in Louis Vuitton
Hian. So men trying to classy up a harness is officially a thing, huh?
Timothee came through giving us sex appeal.
Michael came through...with a floral cushion of a harness.
He looks good but the harness was definitely an afterthought.
Chadwick Boseman in Ermenegildo Zegna XXX
Every time I see this dude, he gets slimmer.
Is it for a role?
Anywho, diggin' the shoes and the jacket.
Not so much the pins.
Lupita Nyong'o in Vera Wang
I don't know what Lupita was trying to attempt here.
From the hair to the mesh crochet netting of a skirt,
it's a no for me, dawg.
Angela Bassett in Georges Chakra
A very beautiful woman, yes.
A very fugly dress, no?
Sterling K. Brown in Ermenegildo Zegna XXX
My homie Sterling gave my favorite moment of the night:
During their celebration of being chosen as Best Drama Series, Sterling stood up shocked, turned around to face his wife, who looked stunned...
...but that quickly change when she stood up to give him multiple hand daps, which Sterling returned with extra energy. It ended with a quick kiss.
I must've replayed the moment at least 50 times.
Oh and he also won for Black Panther.
Susan Kelechi Watson in Christian Siriano
So pretty. Loving the green eye makeup.

Mandy Moore in Jason Wu
One of her best looks.
Absolutely no critiques.
Faith Herman in Valdrin Sahiti
Adorable. Her hair is on point.
Justin Hartley in Armani
This dude has so much potential to be THE ultimate hottie.
But he clearly chooses not to go this route.
I wonder why.
Chrissy Metz in John Paul Ataker
Not really feeling the dress.
And the hairstyle isn't the best, either.
Lyric Ross in John Paul Ataker
Absolutely beautiful!
Love the dress and the off shoulder detail.
Usually I'm big on color lipstick but she chose perfectly with a simply nude.
And the bun is so cute.
Eris Baker in custom made dress
She's rockin' a turban AND the Tims.
Better recognize.
