Oh My Goth!

Lace bodysuit/blouse: Lane Bryant, Camisole: unknown, Skirt: Faith 21, Booties: Torrid

Event: Halloween
Summary: I was not planning to spend my Sat night at one...count 'em...ONE party. I had plans to make it to at least 4 parties. But when you and  your clan finally leave your humble abode at 12:30am, than making 4 parties isn't really gonna happen. Anywho, I had a lot of creative ideas as to what I wanted to be for Halloween. But being the bright procrastinator that I am, I waited to the last minute to realize that my creative ideas for that costume was not gonna make it. So into my closet I go! Realizing that I had a rack of black clothes (and a sprinkle of dark navy blue), I decided to channel a goth from the 80s. I like to think that was what I had accomplished with this outfit. Don't judge! At the end of the day night, it didn't cost me a dime. So I guess I won, right?

Right?!!

Walk Into a Gucci Store. Honey, I'm Home!

Summary: The sis and I are big fans of outlet malls.  And why not? Top brand name stores filled with discounted (up to 75% off) items at your fingertips? Score. Items that are a couple seasons ago or not, it's still a great deal.

Hardly Home But Always Reppin'

Event: Nigerian Independence 50th Birthday Weekend
Where: NYC
Summary: October 1st was Nigeria's 50th Birthday. 50 years of independence. And of course, moi had to celebrate it. So I hopped on Bolt Bus (which, by the way, totally trumps MegaBus...all day, everyday) with Cee to NYC for the festivities. All in all, it was a good weekend. Helped our good friend and chef extraordinaire, Zimuzo, with her booth.  Ran into some friends. Met some Twitter folks. Which reminds me, how weird is it when you finally see the person, you reference him/her by their Twitter name? Or if you introduce them to your friends and they ask, "How do you know each other?" "Oh, through the internet." *chuckles* The wonders of the 21st century.

All Gone Grey

Event: FBL (Fashion Beauty Lifestyle) Expo
Summary: After the soon-to-be-disastrous wardrobe malfunction, I opted for some stretch, skinny jeans instead. Usually, I slang in my flats. For some odd reason, though, I said to myself, 'Hey, you. Put those wedges on and stand tall!' Okay, that's not how my self convo went but long story short, I rocked the wedges. All day. My feet were crying to me by the end of it. My feet hates me now. Great. Anywho, the FBL expo was a blast. Attended a couple of workshops. Viewed a couple of runway shows. Scoped some unique jewelry and clothes. Took a picture with a wax Tyra Banks figure courtesy of Madame Tussands. Ran into some friends and one god-sister. Had the pleasure of meeting Korto Momolu and Nigel Barker. Both are absolutely down to earth. Just nice, nice souls. Can't say a mean thing about them. Just a heads up - next time a fashion expo rolls up in your hood, take some time out to check it out. I mean, you may not meet a Korto or a Nigel but just being in that sort of atmosphere, for someone who loves anything fashion, it will be a great experience.
