Out of Town

dc plus size style

This past weekend in NYC was absolutely so much fun! But before I get to exactly why I was in NYC and why it was so much fun, let's take a closer look at my travel outfit.

During the whole Lilly Pulitizer x Target fiasco where the website crashed for hours and when it finally came back, every plus size item from that collection was sold out and heading to eBay just to see these items being sold for five times that price, I managed to cop two items from my local Target store. One was a bright floral head scarf and the other was this large weekender bag.

Feeling and being comfortable was really my main goal for the bus trip  (s/o to Bolt Bus) from DC to NYC. I mean, 4.5 hours can be a long-ass time if you're wearing a very uncomfortable outfit.

Top: ASOS Curve
Jeans: Boohoo Plus
Weekender Bag: Lilly Pulitzer x Target
Flats: Simply Be
Sunglasses: Tildon via Nordstrom
Headscarf: thrift
Watch: DKNY

The top, despite the scuba material, is light and breezy. I purposely purchased the Boohoo distressed jeans up a couple of sizes in order to give a more relaxed, looser feel. The braids were in an updo to let my neck breathe from the stifling heat (even though, surprisingly, it was cooler in New York). And on my feet are the Simply Be pointy flats also in animal print. A nice clash of patterns. Just the way I like it.

The reason for the NYC trip was to attend The Curvy Con. Be on the look out for a recap of the event and what was worn.

Happy Monday, everyone!
