Dress Over Jeans? It Just Works.

My outfit for the impromptu visit to the DC Citi Open. Yes, it was too damn hot for jeans and a dress with such volume. But we move.

Considering how last minute everything was, when it came time to figure out what to wear, my mind immediately went to dress over jeans. I’m talking about immediately. Even I was shooketh. While in the past I’ve done long dresses over jeans - unbutton the last few buttons and voila! the jeans are peeking from underneath - trying this trend with a dress that hits right at the knee is something different.

I initially chose a ¾ sleeve white dress with deep v-neck and lace insets to pair with the Old Navy ripped jeans. White top paired with a light wash blue jeans screams summer ‘fit. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be ‘cause the plunge bra needed was in the laundry basket. So I went with the Boohoo one shoulder black swing dress which is surprisingly light and simple enough even with the puff sleeves and one shoulder design. And thankfully the bra needed, Torrid strapless bra, was available.

Dress: Boohoo
Jeans: Old Navy
Flats: Torrid
Bag: Modcloth
Watch: Citizen
Earrings: KHOI
Baseball Hat: Old Navy

One last styling touch was needed to complete the look: tucking one side of the dress into the jeans. Doing so revealed the ripped knee on the jeans, giving a simple outfit a bit more interest.

I really like this look and kinda pressed to do this trend again. The concept may seem odd but it works.
