hey. 〰️ welcome. 〰️ ndewo. 〰️
My name is Vivi. I’m a 40-something Nigerian-American and a Washington, DC native living in the metro area.
Welcome to this side of the ‘net.
I’ve been blogging since 2005 and started Heart Print & Style during my funemployment years (aka I was laid off) in October 2010. While my previous blogs (big up to Xanga, Black Planet, Live Journal, and a host of others I can’t remember) were more personal, daily stuff, HPS gave me the chance to share not only my love for style but also how to style a plus-size body.
In the early years of HPS, I called it a fashion blog because that’s what everybody and their mama were calling them. But the posts leaned more towards style, so I decided to call it a style blog. But HPS is so much more! From the jump, I’ve always shared my wide-ranging interests and hobbies making sure style was threaded through each post: an outfit of the day at a NBA playoff game, what I wore to the National Museum of African American History and Culture, my latest thrift store find. Plus travel, red carpet style commentary, musings about music and TV shows, and whatever else tickles my fancy.
And this is when I realized Heart Print & Style had been a lifestyle blog all along.
At its core, HPS is a style diary. My style is subtle and chic but with a twist. Yours may be different, and that’s cool. That’s the beauty of personal style! My hope isn’t for you to recreate my outfits but to feel inspired to embrace your own style. You can be stylish and comfortable in your ‘fits, no matter the size.
