Grammys '14

The award show that allowed Macklemore and Ryan Lewis to sweep their Rap categories AND win Best New Artist. Okay. Look, I like this group. I really do. But for them to win Best Rap Album over Kendrick or Drake. To win Best New Artist? BEST. NEW. ARTIST. C'mon. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Other highlights (and there were a lot):

Best Dressed of the Night.
Taylor Swift in Gucci.
This is just a perfect mixture of sassy, girly, and edgy with a smidgen of sexy.
Yes. All of that.

  • Bruno Mars not winning shit. Locked out for real. Nada. Zilch. Nothing. Zero. Pissed. WINNING! Finally. Yes! As you can see, I was already prepared for my boy not to get a gramophone. Award shows stay shunning Bruno. But not tonight. Not tonight.
  • Bey and Jay opened the show. It was alright but my stanning for Drunk in Love made me enjoy their performance even more than I should have. And Jay definitely copped a feel while he had the chance. Hey, he's allowed.
  • Lorde is still on the Royals train. Considering she has far better songs on her album than "Royals", I kinda zoned out during her performance. But I will say that I appreciate how she feels her music when she's on stage. Also, she's only 17.
  • Katy gave us some witchy urban stripper moves while performing Dark Horse. Juicy J is also on the song and came out to do his thang. I was just excited to see him so I could yell out, 'BANDZ A MAKE HER DANCE!'
  • Pink is flat out amazing. Yes, she's still doing her acrobatics-"So You Think You Can Dance" routines but she's doing all of that AND still singing live AND still sounding great while doing so.
  • "Daddy's got a gold sippy cup for you." - Jay-Z  referring to his Grammy that'll he give Blue Ivy once he gets home. He won for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration along with Justin Timberlake for Holy Grail
  • Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons did a FANTASTIC, AMAZING, HSDLKDJSLJKSKLS aka MIND BLOWING mash-up performance of  M.A.A.D City and Radioactive. I'm still getting chills just thinking about it. That mash-up has to find its way onto my iPod. Here's the link here
  • Pharrell Williams, Stevie Wonder, Daft Punk, and Nile Rodgers did good, too, with their performance.
  • Macklemore and Ryan Lewis along with Mary Lambert and Madonna performed Same Love while 33 couples got married. Considering I don't care much for the song, the performance plus the couples getting married in the aisles didn't do much for me. But on the bright side, as some folks mentioned on Twitter, the couples did have Madonna sing at their 'wedding' and look at the all of their guests in the crowd! Beyonce. Jay-Z. Bruno. Taylor Swift. Kendrick Lamar. And many more! You just can't beat that.
Alrighty. Red carpet, time. Let's get it crack-a-lackin'!

Kelly Osbourne in Badgley Mischka
Not so sure of the hair but it definitely completed the look.
The back of the dress is lovely, too. Cape with a slight low cut.
This is something I can definitely replicate.

Ciara in Emilio Pucci
She looks gorgeous.
Yes, she's wearing a dress that kind of blends in with her skin tone but it's forgiven.

Zendaya
Did I ever tell you guys that at one point in my adult life I was obsessed with the Disney Channel?
No? Well, I was.
Anywho, I knew of Zendaya because of her show, "Shake it Up!". Then "Dancing with the Stars". She was runner-up.
Now I catch up with her on Instagram. I also follow her stylist. This girl got some style!
Ariana Grande in Dolce & Gabanna
I went on a very small rant on Twitter about Ariana Grande's style.
You see, Ariana is 20. But she and/or stylists insist on dressing her(self) in prom/homecoming dresses.
Then the hair and her stance. It's just seems off to me. So calculated.
Just let her be a grown adult.

Sara Bareilles
With a Best Album nod, she could have used the moment to become the 'Belle of the Ball', so to speak.
She definitely dropped the ball. This look is just flat and limp.

Katy Perry in Valentino
Why, of course. Of course, she'll choose a dress with musical notes on a night celebrating the best in music.
Too literal.
Also, the faux wings are distracting.
Beyonce in Michael Costello
So thrilled for Michael Costello!
Michael is all about showing womanly curves; letting his clients embrace their sexiness. Va-va-voom.
But...no to this dress. Not a fan.
