AMAs '16

Since I don't have a favorite look from the red carpet,
I'll just go with my favorite photo of the night.
Travis Barker and his grown-ass kids.
OMWord. I used to watch his MTV show, Meet the Barkers, faithfully.
We're all getting old!

So yeah, American Music Awards 2016 was televised last night and it was boring as fuck. Not good. Not bad. Not entertaining. Just straight up boring. And it was only yesterday when I realized it's a 3 hour show. By hour 2, I was thisclose to tapping out.

But still gonna bring you the recap because it's just something I like to do. Clearly.

The only highlight for me was seeing Bruno Mars perform. But even that left me a bit underwhelmed because I was really banking on him performing a new song from his fantastic album, 24K Magic. Look, 24K Magic, the song, is really good. Especially the 2nd verse. But he got some real bangers on that album. Anywho, just nitpicking here. Hmmm...who else? I liked Lady Gaga's performance. Prince's sister accepted his posthumous award for Best Soundtrack and her speech was an emotional one.  Oh, and it was cute when Drake accepted his award for Best Album - R&B/Hip-Hop from Nina Dobrev. Why? Degrassi alums.  Jimmy and Mia.

Hey, I tried.

Onto the fashion!

American Music Awards 2016
Lady Gaga in Brandon Maxwell
Even though both designs are nothing alike, seeing this reminded me of her Oscars '16 look.
Maybe it's the pants.
Well, at least it all looks good.
Hailee Steinfield in Elie Saab
Usally, when she goes to popstar mode, it reeks of desperation.
I didn't get that feeling from this look.
But something's...off.
Maybe it's the green color. And the hair. And the belt.
Definitely the belt.
Tinashe in Michael Costello
This dress had some potential.
Unfortunately, it's not doing her boobs any favors.
And I'm 'bout sick and tired of the 'show me your underwear sheer' trend.
Like, let that shit go.
The makeup is too harsh. The hoop earrings weren't needed. And the 'do is too dated.
American Music Awards 2016
Ciara in Stephane Rolland
From the waist up, nice. Slightly, dull. But nice.
From the waist down, whaaa?
Gigi Hadid in Roberto Cavailli
Co-host.
Besides her Melania Trump impersonation, she was a non-factor.
All through the night, she kept wearing busted outfits with questionable hairstyles.
I guess this red carpet look was the inspiration.
Nina Dobrev in Zuhair Murad
I expect so much more from Nina on the red carpet.
She's a natural beauty but her outfits are never up to par.
Don't mind this suit. The bustier doesn't work, though.
Maybe she should've left the jacket unbutton, for a more relaxed feel.
Olivia Munn in Reem Acra
Another natural beauty who never quite gets it right on the red carpet.
Take for example this look.
Besides the hair, nothing else is working.
Not the makeup, not the poorly sized deep v baby doll mini dress, and not the barely there sandals.
Teyana Taylor in Steven Khalil
Who signed off on this wet hair look trend?
Because, why?
Anywho, the dress is a no. And it's doing strange things to her chest.
The necklace doesn't go.
Also, she tripped on her dress while walking on stage and couldn't read the monitor cause she wasn't wearing contacts.
C'mon, Teyana. Do better.

Taraji P. Henson in Celine
You know what?
I don't mind this look. Only thing I would change is the bra.
An all black lace bra or bralet would've been better.
She wouldn't dare rock this at, say, the Grammys or the Golden Globes.
But at the AMAs? Sure, why not.
Heidi Klum in Wolk Morais
Never change, Ms. Heidi Klum.
Never change.
Bless her heart.
Keke Palmer in Natalia Fedner
Whoo. This girl desperate thirsty crazy.
She's wearing a dress that was hastily DIY'd into a two piece about 30 mins before the event.
Remarkably, the bling out choker is a bridge too far.
Chrissy Teigen
And, finally, the one...the annoying...Ms. Teigen.
Looking like a damn fool in this fabric.
Apparently, she was having all kinds of wardrobe malfunctions on the red carpet.
I mean, duh.
