Women of Colour Exhibition

Event: Women of Colour Exhibition
Where: The Monroe Trust
Summary: I went to support Melissa as she was one of 6 inspiring women showcased in the Women of Colour exhibition, a portrait series. The portrait series is done by fashion portrait photographer Violetta Markelou.

I first met Melissa at a Goodwill Networking Event two years ago. She was wearing this sleeveless faux leather bustier dress with sky high heels and I remember thinking to myself, "She's so fly!" Over those two years, I've gotten to know Melissa as not only a very stylish woman but also a true humanitarian. An example: last month, in celebration of her 30th birthday, she did an act of service for 30 days. Think of it as a 30 for 30. And I followed her journey the whole way through on Instagram. It warmed my heart.

And, really, that's what this Women of Colour is all about - an in-depth look into these professional women lives beyond their style. Granted, it was their individual style that grabbed Violetta's attention at first, but it was what they had to offer that inspired the series. Violetta did a wonderful job capturing these ladies in their element.
