ModCloth Fit Shop DC

A couple years ago, ModCloth IRL came into the city and I (along with Dani) ushered in its arrival with some shopping events. Well, ModCloth is back in DC...but this time it's permanent!

This is the 3rd location of the ModCloth Fit Shop (Austin and San Fransisco being the other two). The store provides its customers with the opportunity to try own the newest selections (clothing, shoes, accessories) with the assistance of their in-store stylists affectionately called a ModStylist. Once you've tried it on, you can place an order and the package will arrive at your door within 2 business days, free of charge. Drop-ins are welcomed but appointments are strongly encouraged. An appointment comes with a free styling session.

If you're the type who likes to walk out of a store with a shopping bag in hand, then their Vintage section is for you.

Another section in which you can purchase items and take home with you is the Shop Local. Every couple of weeks, the store rotates items from local artisans. During my visit, Freres Branchiaux Candle Co., was featured. This charitable company specializes in natural soy candles and its run by 3 brothers!

I was very excited to try on their clothes. And for folks who know me, I'm not a fan of trying on clothes. It's the quickest way for me to bitch and moan and sweat. I try to avoid it at all costs. However, since this is a new store and all plus I'm a huge fan of their clothing, I made an exception. One of the reasons why I like ModCloth so much is because of their insistence on making the clothing all inclusive. Meaning. sizes XXS-4X gets the same style, the same design, the same print, the same fabric/material. It continues to baffle me that a crazy amount brands who offers plus size items don't follow suit.

Let's start off with what didn't work. I like the print and the accordion-pleated skirt with the slight flounce at the hem of the shirt dress below. But it's not a true shirt dress and the bust area was a bit snug despite it being my true size of 3X. If I had gone up one size, it would've been too big. Oh yeah, there were no pockets.

Now onto my favorites. As noted, 3X is my true size in ModCloth.

Ikebana for All A-Line in Saffron Floral
Breathtaking Tiger Lilies Midi Skirt in Goldenrod
Caroline and I wearing the Social Scholar Couduroy Jumper in Rust
Posing with Yaya
She's wearing the Broadcast Coordinator Shirt Dress in Numbers
Illuminated Elegance Chiffon Maxi Dress in Black
It was a good time at the preview shopping event which took place very early in the morning. Because of this, we were served with glasses of champagne and speciality donuts.

Modcloth is here to stay.

Here are some items currently in my wishlist, waiting to be purchased:
