Critics Choice Awards '20

Desus Nice and The Kid Mero
My boys. I'm so proud of this funny ass dynamic duo.
From Twitter to Complex to Vice to Showtime (!!!) to getting nominated.
Amazing. And the brand is SO strong!

Next up in the 2020 awards season is the Critics Choice Awards

The show kinda dragged with pointless segments. Like, it was trying too hard. I blame Taye Diggs, who was the host. He does nothing for me. Also, why was this show 3 hours long?!! Oh yeah, 'cause of the pointless segments. Duh. I dozed off roughly 15 minutes before it ended.

A huge congratulations to When They See Us, Jharrel Jerome, Regina King (Clearly, I need to watch, well, Watchmen), Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Fleabag, Succession, Brad Pitt, Laura Dern, Quentin Tarantino, Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood, The Irishman, Ruth Carter, Dolemite is My Name, and Us. A great moment from last night was Eddie Murphy being honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Goodness. We's getting old, y'all! I had similar thoughts when Tom Hanks was receiving his own lifetime achievement honor at the Golden Globes just last week. I'm getting old.

Fashion time:
Mandy Moore in Elie Saab
One of her better red carpet looks.
Not sure about the tied cape but without, it'll be a simple jumpsuit.
Decisions, decisions.
Cynthia Erivo in Fendi Haute Couture
First of all, had no clue Fendi had a couture label.
Fendi is more street to me than luxe.
Anywho, the dress is certainly interesting. Love the earrings!
Gwendoline Christie in Dior Men
Is she pregnant? *runs to Google for a quick lookup*
I guess not...?
Because this suit, while really nice, makes her look pregnant.
Like the hairdo as well.
Anne Hathaway in Atelier Versace
Beautiful dress with horrendous sleeves.
Lupita Nyong'o in Michael Kors
Hasn't she worn something like this before?
Am I thinking of when Zendaya wore brown to the Oscars in 2018?
Maybe.
Anywho, it's okay. What's saving this look is the hairstyle and makeup.
Ava DuVernay in Michael Cinco
Again, interesting dress.
The hair should have been pulled back or at least behind the shoulders.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge in Dior Haute Couture
I wished this was in a different color so the design would show more.
And no need for the skirt to be sheer.
Also, do you hair.
Billy Porter in Hogan McLaughlin
Alrighty then.
The dress bodice looked like it was stapled together.
Like the contrasting greens, tho.
A big ol' no to the temporary butterfly (!!!) tattoos.
Zendaya in Tom Ford
Tis alright.
I've seen her in better.
The skirt's waistband bugs me.
Andrew Scott
Why ruin a gorgeous suit with even a more gorgeous pair of shoes with a glossy, cheap looking fuchsia shirt?
D'Arcy Carden in Tadashi Shoji
The dress is pretty but not for a major awards show red carpet.
Where does one wear such a dress?
I'm guessing a spring/summer wedding.
Susan Kelechi Watson in Galia Lahav
Ma'am. That teardrop cut-out is atrocious.
Jennifer 'J Lo' Georges Hobeika
This is a meh look.
I may not even be a fan of Jennifer's red carpet looks but this dress is boring.
And its snuffing out her IT factor.
