Bay Area Roundup

This post was meant to be up last week but I was feeling oh so blog-lazy (Blog-Lazy: Having energy to do other tasks except to update your blog). I put up a preview shot on Instagram with a tagline reading that it'll be up on this blog soon. And at that time my 'soon' was, like, later on in the afternoon or something. Nah. It seems that my 'soon' was actually damn near a week later. My procrastinating and blog-lazy ways strikes again.

During the 4th of July weekend I was in the Bay Area (specifically Oakland and San Fran) for a wedding. I've known the couple for years through a mutual friend and I was excited to get a chance to not only witness their nuptial but also to visit the Bay Area again. I love me some San Fran. A lot.

Here's a brief roundup of some of the outfits I wore while there.

Damn fly-away strand of hair.

"You weren't joking about your love for sheer, huh?" That's what someone said to me when she saw my outfit. Ha. Me and sheer, we go together. I don't know why I love sheer so much. It's just awesome. Really, it is. Anywho, I did a subtle mixed patterns take with my Avenue pants and animal print Curvy Couture bra underneath the sheer blouse. I had no plans of rocking these pants again. Seriously. I was...maybe still am...thisclose to selling them. But I saw how Michelle recently rocked 'em and was inspired to wear it one last (maybe) time. Here are the only other two times I've worn the pants here and here.

I came upon this dress at the Fashionista Flea Market. I bought it from Haute Crave Boutique. When I tell you that their selection (ran by three partners and friends, Taliah Davis, Naja Davis and Joye Pittman) was amazing...it was amazing. As you can see, I'm still not over the black/white trend. I wore this to the pre-wedding family dinner and later on for the after party at Air Lounge. Clearly, I didn't feel like changing.

Finally, the wedding day! Gosh, it was beautiful. Filled with lots of dancing, a live band performance (the couple is also a part of the band) and a girls dance troupe performance (the bride is their teacher). Looking back, I wished I wore something a bit more...bright. Actually I wished I bought this dress in the other color - teal. Don't get me wrong, I really like the black dress. But for this occasion and the location, the teal dress would have been a better choice.
