It Had to be Done

Event: Sunday Brunch
Where: Blue Moon Cafe
Summary: Well, Mother Nature won. My arms had to be revealed. The weather this past Sunday was downright atrocious. Donning on a sleeveless cream skater dress with an open back was just the logical choice. Besides that, I adore this lil' number. The only con is that the dress decided its natural state is being wrinkled. *le sigh* But that's not stopping me from being thisclose to obtaining the black AND floral one.   It's real in these streets, yo. Speaking of real, Blue Moon Cafe is it. Very cozy and intimate (re: longer waiting time). Fantastic food. Large portions, affordable prices. Great selection in music being played while eating. It serves breakfast all day long. It does not serve alcohol, though, but it is a BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) kinda place. We knew about this way too late which was a slight bummer. Anywho, check it out whenever you get the chance. It's worth it.

I loved the paintings on the wall.

One of their speciality: Cap'n Crunch French Toast. I didn't try/taste it but everybody else enjoyed it. Tremendously.

Dress: ASOS, Shoes: Evans, Belt: Vintage, Necklace: Forever 21
Headband: DIY, Earrings: Target, Watch: Michael Kors

Wrinkled in the Wind

I'm viewing you.

Sidenote: I took a back picture but I wasn't satisfied because my bra was showing. My sis said it was fine but I wasn't fine with it.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

White Heat

Event: Baby Shower
Summary: This dress is so perfect for extreme hot weather. Why? Because it's white and light. The end. When I wore it previously here I said that the next time I rock it I'll pair it with heels. Sure enough, that's exactly what I did with my Evans orange shoes. It's like the combination was made for each other. Also, instead of tying the belt to the back, I tied it to the front and left it long. Y'know, trying something different.

Clearly, my nursery years were a failure.
Hey, at least I didn't put "coat/fur" for #1, though, like someone did.
I mean, "Mary had a little lamb. Its' coat/fur was white as snow." #cmonson!

2nd Annual DC Africa Festival

Event: 2nd Annual DC Africa Festival
Where: Takoma Recreation Center
Summary: The weather was absolutely perfect on this day. So many people came out in droves to enjoy themselves at the festival. It was definitely a success. This festival has a special place in my heart because it was organized by my sister, Zi. Didn't I tell you that not only is she stylish but intelligent, too?

I wished I was able to take more pictures of the event but I used up all my memory card. Anywho, enjoy the few that I managed to capture:

This artist had an unique way of creating his work: painting while dancing. At first I was like, what is this man doing? There was definitely a madness to his method. He loves what he is does and it created such a buzz throughout the festival.

My friend, Milola (BSB partner in crime), with her husband. They run a personalized gift items company called Scripture Creations (SCP)

The organizer of the festival (who just so happens to be my beautiful sister) Zi.
She is wearing Cote Minou.

I loved how he represented wearing a traditional Igbo (Nigeria) wrapper.

DC Mayor Vincent C. Gray

With our Mom.

There was a parade of flags. I took a few pictures before I was dragged by my brother to help him carry the Namibia flag. No one was there to represent. :o(

Nigeria being represented.

I was so delighted that the very talented fashion stylist and creative director, Apuje Kalu, took time out of his busy schedule to present a fashion show that highlights African designers that are breaking into the fashion industry.

Sip & Swap Event

Event: DC Sip & Swap with The Swapaholics
Summary: This was my first clothing swap event. I was always curious as to how the whole process worked. In my mind, I thought it'll be a bit animalistic. And it kind of was. Ha! But it wasn't too bad, either. I could've grabbed some more items but I just do not possess that aggressive personality. I was wa-a-a-y too chill...laidback. The highlight for me was meeting other DC bloggers and chatting it up.

What I wore.

Blazer/purse; vintage, Dress: Old Navy, Shoes: Lane Bryant
Necklaces: vendor/Forever 21, Shades: Gucci, Watch: Michael Kors

The event started at 7:30pm. Before the event, I made a pit stop at their rooftop for happy hour drinks and to mingle. It was there where I met some DC bloggers.
